A child bride…! “Where the Sun Sets” is a feature film on women’s rights and domestic violence. The story is that of two young schoolgirls whose mother has passed away and were being forced by their father to get married for the dowry money. The older girl of 14 is forced by her father to accept marriage, and she agrees to do so so that she can save her little sister from the same fate. But her husband turns out to be an abusive man who beats her at every opportunity, especially when he comes home drunk. In the meanwhile she gives birth to four children in four years whereas the younger sister escapes the situation, gets a good education and becomes a teacher. She communicates to her sister that she should leave her husband and come live with her for a while. She also arranges for her to get into a Women’s Asylum Shelter with her four children. This becomes a safe haven for her and her children who get the opportunity to get a good education. She becomes the respected elder person in the Asylum Shelter which helps her gain confidence in herself and have the courage to reject and divorce her husband and establishes a new life for herself and her children. This feature film closely followed the true life story of this woman.
