Ultima is not a newly established enterprise. It has been operating since the 1980’s, producing feature films, documentaries, social, economic, political and cultural TV programs as well as various Information, Education and Communication (IE&C) training programs. It has a wide experience of collaboration and cooperation with international organizations such as the Johns Hopkins University Population Communications Program, USAID, UNFPA and the European Union. Some of the main focus points have included women’s rights, women and childrens’ health, family planning, domestic violence, gender equality, safe motherhood and a variety of other subjects. Ultima has previously partnered with TV stations making collaborative programs about migrant workers in the industrial countries of Europe.. Ultima was particularly occupied with the social, cultural and economic problems of the workers from Spain, Greece, Turkey and Italy which comprised the majority of foreign workers in Europe. These programs have a made significant difference in increasing awareness among those workers, and in making their voices heard by their employers as well as between the countries concerned. Ultima believes that all human beings are entitled to a healthy and productive life in harmony with nature. We should keep in mind that population, economic growth and sustainable development are interrelated. Important topics for the development of society include: -Gender equality, -empowerment of women, -eradication of poverty, -enlightening young people about reproductive health, -the interrelationship between population, resources and environment and their harmonious balance, -education and narrowing the imbalances in gender equality Ultima, in all of its production, emphasizes the good human relations between different societies, denounces terrorism and violence both in families and in the world and advocates help creating a more peaceful world. Ultima’s main philasophy is to eradicate social, cultural and political differences amongst people. Ultima strongly believes that Information, Education and Commuciation (IE&C) can lead the way and be the main tool to alleviate the social, cultural and political problems. ULTIMA has made concerted effort in the past to strengthen women’s rights. We believe that good education of women is the key factor in the development of the society. Additionally women’s education is critical for the women’s decision making process for themselves as well as their children and family. It is a known fact that we can help reduce excessive population growth and poverty in the world by promoting literacy and emancipation of women and their access to reproductive health. Trying to help to stop the forced marriages of girl children and in the rural areas their being exchanged as a commercial good is one of the priorities of ULTIMA and it will follow the same line in the future to help the development of the countries by developing their attitudes towards women.
